What We've Been Up To (and What's Coming Next)
When we launched Elevate Editing, we set out to do more than polish prose and prune wayward commas. We wanted to change the story of who gets to tell stories. Since day one, our mission has been about accessibility — making sure that under-represented authors can access professional editing, mentoring, and publishing guidance without having to sell a kidney to do it..
Learn more about our mission to make editing accessible for every voice.
So, what have we been up to since the big debut? Quite a bit, actually — the coffee machine has barely had a day off.
Building a Social Enterprise for Storytellers
We're currently setting up a dedicated arm of Elevate Editing to support writers from underrepresented backgrounds. The goal? To create opportunities, open doors, and dismantle some of the barriers that still keep far too many talented voices from being heard.
We've been busy talking with some brilliant people who share this vision — authors like Ashley Hickson-Lovence, who's been championing working-class writers and exploring ways we can mentor and empower new voices together. Then there's Eva Verde, who's passionate about representing women's stories in all their honesty and complexity (and we absolutely adore that). And we've been in conversation with Scorpius Books, a trailblazing dyslexic-friendly publisher making adult fiction more accessible for neurodiverse readers. Together, we're sketching out workshops, mentoring programmes, and editorial support networks designed to turn good intentions into real, tangible impact.

Why a Social Enterprise?
Because the publishing world doesn't just need good editors — it needs fair ones. By structuring part of Elevate Editing as a social enterprise, we can reinvest profits directly into initiatives that matter — funding low-cost edits, offering scholarships, or hosting community workshops. Think of it as editing with ethics, and a heart as sharp as our red pen.

Community, Collaboration, and (A Lot of) Coffee
We've been attending book festivals, chatting with indie publishers, and connecting with writers who want to see a more inclusive literary landscape. The response has been incredible — a reminder that there's a huge appetite for change in this industry, and that small, passionate teams can make a big difference when they work collectively.

What's Next
Over the next few months, we'll be rolling out the first stage of this initiative, with pilot mentoring opportunities and accessible editorial services designed specifically for writers who need that extra lift. Keep an eye on our website and socials for updates — and if you're an author, publisher, or creative business who'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you.
If you’d like to collaborate, partner, or find out more about how we support emerging authors, get in touch with our team — we’d love to hear from you.
Because at Elevate Editing, it's not just about improving stories — it's about rewriting the publishing landscape, one voice at a time.
